Ann and her family moved to Beaufort, South Carolina from the San Francisco Bay Area. As a “southern enthusiast” she has a passion for the people and products that inspire her love of the south, its culture, and traditions. After years of traveling the southern states, Ann was struck by the absence of a retail experience that celebrated the vibrant Southern Lifestyle. Thus, Scout Southern Market was born. Creating welcoming environments is a passion Ann exhibits in both her shop and clients’ homes. Ann feels fortunate to be involved in the community. She currently serves on the Board of The Downtown Beaufort Merchant’s Association, The Board of Historic Beaufort Foundation, and The John Mark Verdier House committee.
Visit Ann’s beautiful shop at 709 Bay Street in Beaufort or check out her website at scoutsouthernmarket.com.

The Spirits of Christmas
“The Spirits of Christmas” is a dedicated group of garden club ladies who have cumulative decades of experience with house tours, flower shows, and flower design for all occasions.
They happily volunteered for the opportunity to express the Spirit of Christmas at a grand home designed in the manner of the French Countryside featuring the homeowner’s vast collection of Chinoiserie and Delft ware.
These designers decorated this home in loving memory of Janet Phelps.
Dataw Island Garden Club
The Dataw Garden Club will transform the Sams Plantation Tabby Ruins and Dataw History/Learning Center into a Holiday spectacle that will be enjoyed by all Homes for the Holidays tour-goers. Complete with docents in period costumes, carolers and refreshments for the guests, this stop will be a highlight of the Tour.
The Garden Club was awarded a First Place certificate for the Most Outstanding Holiday Beautification project of a historic building. That award was given to the Club by the Garden Club of South Carolina during the state annual meeting in April 2018. The award was given in recognition of the decorating of the Sams Plantation Tabby Ruins and Cannery Library as part of the “Light Up The Night” luminary celebration held in December 2017. The decorating committee, led by Cindy Hooper, created a magical experience. This year’s celebration, under the direction of Peggy Sue Dale, promises to be another show stopper. The Homes for the Holidays Tour is excited to be able to offer this experience for all those attending this year.
